Moving Too Fast

I’m on the go most of the time and really do enjoy keeping busy, however in the past four months daily life seems to have really sped up and I let something slip; my attention to the details and I have paid the price.

HERE’S THE STORY

I’m proud to be a Signature Member of The International Society of Experimental Artists (ISEA) and was excited and grateful to have my piece Magnifying Glass accepted into the Annual Open Juried Exhibition to artists from around the world.

So here’s a question for you all; when you look at the above photo of Magnifying Glass, what is wrong with this picture? (remember Sesame Street?)

Well, you have probably guessed that yes, this piece as shown is indeed NOT a square 12 X 12 as posted but is in fact a rectangle measuring 15 X 12. Magnifying Glass was accepted into the exhibition under these dimensions and as a 12 X 12 piece it is no longer eligible as it was juried as a 15 X 12 artwork. The result is that it has been removed from the Exhibition, the ISEA Catalogue, Visual Site and Social Media for Innovations 2026. ISEA was gracious and apologetic in delivering the bad news and although I accept accountability for my own error, it still remains quite a blow.

Lesson learned, slow it down, don’t move so fast that your attention strays from the important details, at least when it comes to applying for a juried exhibition!

In spite of the outcome, I had so much fun creating Magnifying Glass, working simultaneously on three Ampersand panels in cold wax and oil. Please see below for a short video on the process.
